Christmas memories from Bavaria

Unfortunately, Christmas is over, but we can still enjoy that unique atmosphere. Some of the Christmas city decorations still keep our sidewalks in the festive time. We will be able to enjoy them for at least a few days more – just like the residents of the German city of Vilshofen an der Donau.

Traditional Christmas trees, chains of colorful lights, colorful sugar canes – these are our beloved symbols of Christmas. Last Christmas season, they also appeared in one of the Bavarian cities – Vilshofen an der Donau. Undoubtedly, their charm cannot be denied, but the large christmas baubles have become the main character of the composition – this is the reason for which it is so difficult to pass them by indifferently!

Due to their dimensions and beautiful red color, these Christmas decorations turned out to be a real hit. They will definitely return to the sidewalks next season. We have already started the big countdown to next Christmas!

Fight the grayness. Colorful and mobile urban pots XXL

How to keep some sun in the cities even in a shadowy day? How to get rid of the grayness in cities and invite some colors to them? How to bring some nature to the public spaces?

Many European cities have problems to deal with a square arrangement in the centre – it usually lacks color and nature. A real challenge turns out to be the creation of a nice surrounding of a town hall and other public buildings.

Thale, Germany | Source: www.terraformdesign.eu

More and more often, citizens declare that they need a real contact with nature in public spaces. What is important, they require not only greenery but also a comfortable infrastructure, which allows to enjoy the nature but also positively influences the aesthetics of the surroundings. The answer to such needs is very simple: colorful and mobile urban pots XXL with a seat or table function!

Schkeuditz, Germany | Source: www.terraformdesign.eu

An extraordinary form is not the only benefit of flower pots Gianto Sito and Gianto Tablo. To discover their next assets, one just needs to take a look at their base: hidden grooves in the bottom for lifts give some new possibilities to cities – pots can be transported in a blink of an eye to free up every space for events under the open sky or just to create some various arrangements.

Meerane, Germany | Source: www.terraformdesign.eu

The mobility of pots will perfectly fit to the current world trend. All elements creating common spaces should be an answer to the needs of citizens, who expect various solutions and unique ways of arrangement.

A winter transformation of a flower tower

For many people, Christmas doesn’t exist without a Christmas tree, also in public spaces. What to do though if the square in front of the town hall lacks trees, and bringing to it any live specimen is neither economical nor ecological solution? Contrary to what one might expect, Christmas does not have to go without decorations!

A winter transformation of a flower tower

Christmas covers for the Flower Towers are a solution, which makes it possible to deal with standing or hanging Flower Towers in winter and protect them against snow, rain or wind. They are specially developed covers, in a shape of a Christmas tree cone or a ball ( for street lamps ), and thanks to them, spring and summer decorations do not have to be removed after the season, therefore, expenses for their storage can be eliminated.

The Christmas covers for the standing and hanging Flower Towers go in a few sizes, therefore, they can be adjusted to already existing decorations, which will become additional ballast for them. Weather in winter eliminates low-quality solutions from urban spaces. The solid construction of the Christmas trees from the TerraChristmas collection resists severe weather conditions as they are firmly fixed to the ground.

The city Christmas trees are made of plastic imitating spruce, with which a light steel frame was wrapped. Thanks to the powder coating, the inside construction is resistant to the low temperatures and humidity – such a solid and reliable materials guarantee an excellent condition for many seasons.

Large pots and plants on the terrace

main photo: www.zielonebalkony.pl

Modern terraces become an extension of the living rooms – this is not a place for boring sun loungers! The terraces are gradually filled with elegant substrates made of exotic wood, and stylish roofs made of aluminum or polycarbonate. Large pots appear too – contemporary models that were only plant containers and now they are decorations, complementing the style of the entire terrace.

photo/source: www.zielonebalkony.pl

A terrace, whether it is an element of some higher  floor or the ground floor, is an obligatory element of every new house, and sometimes even public buildings. Often their area even exceeds the size of the living room! All this makes terraces a very important element of modern spaces – their arrangement turns out to be as important as the decor of the bedroom or kitchen furniture.

photo/source: www.zielonebalkony.pl

Choice of the right decorations will make the time spent on the terrace truly unforgettable. The element of nature matters, too. Although it is difficult to plant large plants directly on the terrace, large pots will solve this problem. Modern models will prove themselves even in the case of uncovered terraces – they will not be harmed by changing temperatures, rainfall or even snow. The model in the shape of a large bowl, Plane Ring Lux, does not have to be stored inside during fall and winter – this large pot is able to accommodate large amounts of seedlings, and thus bring the desired natural accent to the terrace.

photo/source: www.zielonebalkony.pl

Soaring, fluffy ornamental grasses are particularly popular – they will look great on terraces next to minimalist buildings, which sometimes require breaking their raw form. Which specimen to choose? This is a difficult choice that we leave to individual preferences – more about ornamental grasses we have already written in this post – click.

What about…ornamental grasses?

XXL Baubles for public spaces

More and more European cities are dressing up for Christmas, among them Świdnik (Poland). Huge Christmas balls and Christmas ball pyramids in a romantic red color turned out to be the hit of last season … and they will certainly be appreciated this year too!

Świdnik, Poland | source: www.terrachristmas.com

Last winter, one of the most interesting ideas for the Christmas arrangement for the city was chosen by Świdnik (Poland). Near the Constitution Square, a pyramid of red XXL baubles was created, and right next to it, individual Christmas balls appeared – they were placed on the lawns in a random arrangement, giving the impression of a free, even spontaneous composition. Thus, the decoration resembles the one we know from home interiors – it is informal and natural, i.e. one that brings the best memories of Christmas.

Świdnik, Poland | source: www.terrachristmas.com

How was the pyramid made of huge Christmas balls created? This is a very interesting process – each of the baubles is solidly based on a frame hidden inside – thanks to it, the decoration, although seems to be light and delicate, is very stable and will not fall apart. Similarly, individual baubles were stabilized – all fixed on smaller supports, which ensure that none of them would change their location – neither due to strong wind nor acts of vandalism.

Hot winter trend – openwork decorations on street lamps and not only

Foresight or spontaneity? In such a special moment, there is no time to make rash decisions, especially when they concern public issues. Although it is only the end of August, it is worth choosing Christmas city decorations already now, including this year’s novelty – openwork elements for street lamps and pyramids made of balls.

The past few winter seasons have belonged to openwork decorations. These light, airy elements found their way to many Polish and European cities. However, the range of possibilities grows every year – this winter season is the premiere of another inspiring solution. The well-known openwork Globus balls have gained a new use. After a special fixing system was developed, they additionally became a decoration that can be mounted on city street lamps. By adding a specialized frame, it was possible to create a pyramid made of the mentioned XXL balls.

source: www.terrachristmas.com

Three-dimensional openwork balls, as any other elements exposed along sidewalks or squares, can be varied with led strings. Nothing prevents you from choosing models in shades other than the traditional white. How to create a pyramid of openwork balls? It’s easy – it can consist of four or ten elements. Inside, there is a solid frame that will keep the composition properly arranged, and additionally prevent it from being moved from its place. Using the same element, you can also get an independent XXL openwork bauble, which will become an individual decoration.

source: www.terrachristmas.com

Although this is only the beginning of preparations for Christmas in public spaces, it is worth being more prescient than usual. First of all, due to the currently ongoing special offers including Christmas decorations, as well as the possibility to choose from the full range of possibilities – long before the warehouses are depleted by customers in the full season

Instead of a Christmas card … an XXL Christmas ball!

Can traditional Christmas city decorations still be presented in an innovative way? Is there a way for them to play a slightly different role than before? Along with this season, we start a new Christmas trend – a creative idea to give wishes…

XXL Christmas baubles and Christmas covers for large pots have been decorating the markets and promenades of our cities for several winter seasons. Although they are still an intriguing novelty, they can already be entrusted with an additional, completely unexpected task. The trend of placing various content on their surface is becoming more and more popular – from wishes to city emblems or company logos.

Source: www.terrachristmas.eu

Personalized Christmas city decorations – a wish carrier

Why is the presence of wishes or logos on the Christmas elements such a good idea? First of all, because of its creativity – such an enchantingly  presented content is even more memorable, original, and above all – unique. This is a great way to distinguish the entrance of the company, city square or any space under the roof – corridors of the city hall or shopping mall. Importantly, it is not an ordinary label – the inscription placed on the surface of the pot with the cover or on the XXL baubles is protected against weather conditions and damage. Minor scratches, discoloration or fading will not occur.

How does an XXL bauble become a wish carrier?

It’s very easy! You can take care of it personally, but it is much more comfortable to entrust this task to specialists. When choosing large baubles from the TerraChristmas collection, you can additionally choose the option of placing a label on their surface with any message. To be sure about the effect, you can order free visualisation any time you want. In this way you can be certain that the final composition will fully coincide with the expectations.

Source: www.terrachristmas.eu

How to put a logo on a pot with a Christmas cover?

A logotype or Christmas wishes may appear not only on the XXL bauble, but also on the city pot. Right after Christmas, the decoration can be easily removed without damaging the surface of the container, so that it can become the basis for a new, spring composition.

Luckenwalde – just wonderful Christmas!

There were a lot of Christmas decorations around. One could admire unusual ornaments and atmospheric light strings. In the German city of Luckenwalde, exceptionally unique elements appeared: intensely red XXL baubles and slender openwork decorations.

The Christmas composition was set on one of the city’s roundabouts, which is passed by the inhabitants of the nearby neighborhood every day. It is an important place worth emphasising – especially in the run-up to Christmas.
For this reason the character of it was pretty changed – the roundabout space was filled with slender openwork decorations in the shape of cones. These elements inspired by the traditional Christmas tree were illuminated with strings of delicate lights, therefore, the composition is most delightful in the evenings. The illumination of the roundabout is another benefit and a way to disperse the early winter dusk. Moreover, the crossroads became more visible and so safer.

Luckenwalde, Germany | source: www.terrachristmas.com

Openwork decorations were not the only distinguishing feature of the roundabout because also they were accompanied by XXL christmas baubles in traditional red color. Intriguing, large elements caught the eye, making the composition enliven the estate plunged in autumn and early winter.

Luckenwalde, Germany | source: www.terrachristmas.com

Residents of the Luckenwalde estate could enjoy the beautiful decoration of the roundabout … And they will certainly be able to count on similar attractions in the coming years – city decorations from the TerraChristmas collection (including the mentioned large baubles or openwork decorations) are made of such solid materials that they will not be harmed even by the most severe winter or accidental mechanical damage. What else … Simply – Happy Christmas!

The city of great changes is still open to new things

Torgau is a small town in eastern Germany famous for its well-preserved Renaissance architecture. As befits a city of great changes (and not only cultural ones!), impressive makeover has taken a place there … From a typical, neat, yet monochromatic to the vibrant with life and colors old town, and all of that in just a few moments!

Torgau, Germany | source: www.terraformdesign.eu

This quick transformation was possible thanks to the huge pots from the Gianto line. Contrary to appearances, the presence of fabulously colorful, modern containers has not distorted the character of the old town … after all, it is located in one of the most progressive cities in Europe!

Torgau, Germany | source: www.terraformdesign.eu

Although Torgau is open to new things, it faces many limitations connected with  preservation of the historic centre heritage. One of them is the restricted movement of heavy vehicles, which make bringing traditional decorations difficult.

Torgau, Germany | source: www.terraformdesign.eu

However, it was enough to put on large flower pots from the TerraForm collection, which are light, and most importantly: mobile. The Gianto Tablo models (pots with table) and Gianto Sito (pots with a seat) have special grooves for a pallet truck – agile, powered by human muscles. Therefore, interference with the historic center does not require damaging the ground or exhaust emissions.

Torgau, Germany | source: www.terraformdesign.eu

The colorful flower pots have reached the heart of Torgau in a completely non-invasive manner, without harming the surroundings. Thanks to their size, colors and form, they constitute a strong decorative accent that cannot be overlooked. Importantly, the Sito and Tablo pots are also additional benefits for passers-by – an alternative bench or table where you can read a newspaper, book or eat a meal comfortably.

Let’s go! Arranging the street greenery is easy

The street green belts are different – sometimes they can be covered with lawn and sometimes planted with trees, ornamental plants or shrubs. However, what to do when they do not exist in a traditional form, and instead of the natural substrate, there are only pavements? Greenery may appear in these places too!

Marktredwitz, Germany| source: www.terraformdesign.eu

At first glance, the arrangement of the space directly next to the street may seem to be difficult. How can you launch plants into a place without any natural substrate? And most importantly: how to do it in a way that is effective and safe for drivers and pedestrians?

Marktredwitz, Germany| source: www.terraformdesign.eu

Places with heavy traffic require a slightly different approach: it is not worth investing in heavy, static decorations (including, above all, classic concrete containers), which cannot be moved quickly if necessary, and due to their weight, may pose a threat to drivers. Modern city planters turned out to be a good solution – light and capacious enough to accommodate the largest plants – including Canna, which is very popular this season, and the timeless plant always chosen by city gardeners – Surfinia.

Big flower pots – big plants!

Such a solution was taken advantage of, among others, in the German city of Marktredwitz. Gianto city pots, models in the most intense colors, have appeared directly on the streets. Interestingly, such a choice is dictated not only by a purely aesthetic concept – vivid colors are better seen by drivers, which in turn improves their alertness on the road. The smooth texture of the pots also favors their exposure directly along the streets as dust and dirt easily disappear with rainfall.

What about…ornamental grasses?

This is the question that was asked when arranging this year’s greenery in the center of Świnoujście (Poland) and along the seaside boulevard. The answer turns out to be unequivocal – this is a great idea! We are sure that this unusual concept will enter the canon of the most popular flowers.

Świnoujście, Poland | source: www.terra-flower-tower.com

This year, Świnoujście (Poland) was dominated by a twofold approach to urban greenery: on the one hand, tried-and-tested as well as popular types of flowers were chosen, and on the other … residents together with guests were surprised by an unconventional solution for planting the Flower Towers. The cascade constructions were filled with lush ornamental grasses – until now reserved primarily for planting directly in the ground, in XXL pots or flower boxes mounted on railings.

Świnoujście, Poland | source: www.terra-flower-tower.com

This “natural experiment” turned out to be a full success – the decorations do not only look great, but also they will survive until late autumn, without any need to replace plants with seasonal specimens.

Świnoujście, Poland | source: www.terraformdesign.eu

In the seaside town, popular flowers were planted too – the tallest Flower Towers were planted with begonia and fuchsia, flower boxes were filled with ipomea in a duo with surfinia, and the concrete XXL pots, among others, were planted with more and more popular canna.

Świnoujście, Poland | source: www.terra-flower-tower.com

Interestingly, in Świnoujście one could notice a trend related to flower meadows – because who said that it is impossible to arrange them in the Flower Towers? The lower Flower Towers were planted with meadow specimens that attract pollinators and, what is more, they help to preserve biodiversity. The unique, eye-catching visual effect does not need to be mentioned!

In winter and in summer – openwork decorations stay classy the whole year!

Associated with the Christmas magic, openwork decorations bring to mind some cosy atmosphere and… they are perfect as flower containers at other times of the year. It is hard to find more comprehensive solution for cities – here are openwork decorations in a version you do not know!

Koziegłowy, Poland | source: www.terrachristmas.com

In Koziegłowy (Poland), the focus was on flexibility. But this is not just any solution – no, no, nothing could be further from the truth! Currently, openwork decorations in the shape of a ball decorate the city, emphasizing the charms of the summer season. Inside the hemispheres that make up the whole, surfinia and pelargonium have been planted. The lower element of the decoration was used as an original city planter. This is how the most beautiful ornament in the area was created – an airy, slightly open ball, which is bubbling with the colors of plants.

Koziegłowy, Poland | source: www.terrachristmas.com

Nothing prevents it from staying in the same place in autumn and even in winter. The skilled hands of a city gardener are enough to turn a typical summer composition into a composition inspired by the end of the year. The already proven solution is planting the most famous autumn flowers, such as, chrysanthemums or heathers inside of the hemishpere. And in winter? In winter, twigs of evergreen plants can appear in the decoration. It is worthwhile to diversify the prepared composition with colorful chains, baubles and string lights … and then spring comes, and thus: the first plantings with pansies or daisies.

Koziegłowy, Poland | source: www.terrachristmas.com

Fiber glass, from which the ball is made, is so durable that it will resist frost, snow or rain. It is also robust to strong sunlight, so the openwork decoration can be exposed outside all year round. This is a good way to save money when using one solid base that changes with every season.

A walk through Marian Square

It is a wonderful place. Not only does it have 2 main squares but also it is one of the most populous locality in Slovakia. Moreover, it also has the longest pedestrian zone in the whole country.  This is Žilina – a Slovakian city which has just gained its next advantage – beautiful flower towers in the heart of the city centre.

Žilina, Slovakia | Source: www.terra-flower-tower.com

Žilina is very popular among the Polish tourists – situated only 77 kilometres from Cieszyn, it has a very convenient rail connection which in addition encourages people to visit this charming place even more. It may be a fantastic idea for a weekend and believe us – there is a lot to see!

On the longest pedestrian zone in Slovakia, there are two bustling squares with picturesque tenement buildings and a fountain. You will find there also a lot of restaurants with local rarities and some idyllic space to relax. In the lovely centuries-old place, you cannot miss the floral decoration which introduces and emphasizes the charming colours of the squares.

Žilina, Slovakia | Source: www.terra-flower-tower.com

The flower towers are situated in the most representative part of the city – nearby the stairs which connect those two already mentioned squares. The main market called Mariánske námestie is also full of floral compositions in various colour shades. Those 2 meter high half models of Flower Towers can be seen also close to the town hall – the special models of the products can be easily situated along walls without any space loss.

We strongly recommend visiting Žilina as it may be an interesting place for people who appreciate historic architecture, tranquillity, positive energy as well as beautiful floral decorations.

Your beautiful city – Olsztyn, Poland. See the video

Think pink! The Flower Towers planted with pink flowers look beautiful! And what else is behind such a great effect?
This is the result of several components: first of all – tools. Particularly it means that the Flower Towers have an open-cross section.

Every ring of the construction is put on one after the other, so that the inner space can be open for roots and water. Plants can fully grow and thus reach impressive sizes.

See the video below:

Plantings in the hanging Flower Towers are also worth consideration. A model dedicated for street lamps has got a double-bottom system thanks to which a plant takes water whenever it needs. The effect? An exceptionally healthy, and attractive composition, not only at the pavement level but also high above it! In this way, an exceptionally attractive composition with intensive colors is created, making the city look as if it were seen through pink-colored glasses…and it is commonly known that some colors have a really positive impact on our lives!

Urban pots – a sea of possibilities. Large flower pots

In the German coastal city Greifswald, some unusual urban pots have appeared. Their uniqueness lies in an original form as the edge of a container is extended not without a reason…

Greifswald, Germany | Source: www.terraformdesign.eu

One of the biggest attractions of Greifswald is the marina. Yachts, sailboats and motorboats moor along the channel of the Ryck River. However, not only ”boaters” can find something for themselves. This neat and well-kept area is a great idea for a family walk – admiring the views you can easily wander to the Baltic beach.

Greifswald, Germany | Source: www.terraformdesign.eu

Still, to be able to fully enjoy the panorama, it is worth stopping for a moment …That is why, urban pots with a seat function appeared at marina. How does it work? The secret lies in the well-thought-out design combining two functions – a bench ( an expanded edge plays this role ), and a container for plants.

Greifswald, Germany | Source: www.terraformdesign.eu

The marina in Greifswald can be a role model in arranging problematic public spaces. Although there is a lack of space for new natural plantings, there is plenty of greenery. Trees constituting the axis separating the river channel from the promenade are not the only green accent.

The solution for the area covered with cobblestones turn out to be mobile urban pots – the models enriched with special grooves for a pallet truck, hidden in the base. This is a convenient and quick way not only to bring planted decorations to the area, but also, in the long run – to change their setting according to one`s needs. Arrangement does not require complicated construction works or engaging heavy, devastating ground vehicles – the marina will remain as beautiful as always!
